Made in 3rd world

Main street, Limassol

Immigration in Cyprus is massive, mostly from developing countries. A total of 15% of South Cyprus population consists of immigrants, of which one third came illegally from Asia.

Most of the immigrants are young women, working in small factories spread around old city center.
Minimum wage in this country is 700 EUR for full time jobs, but in the cases of immigrants from third world countries there is a special clause which makes minimum wage 300 EUR. However this is a much better salary than what they could get in their countries.

Promenade, Limassol, is the place where many of these immigrants, especially from Asia, come every weekend, to enjoy a nice day out or trade everything – from vegetables to clothes.

Greek Cypriots have a high standard of living, Cyprus economical indicators being in the first from EU. The country had an economical boom due to low taxation laws which attracted foreign investments and the modernization of the island which highly improved its tourism. Following EU trends, Cyprus has an aged population and following old island laws (strongly related to the Orthodox Church) this is a highly patriarchal society.

Just like weakness attracts predators, so are the city’s men attracted to these young girls living in Cyprus. Mostly uneducated but wealthy, these men break social and moral conventions powered by libidinal desires.

Wearing golden crucifixes (as this is a highly religious society) they try to get the girls in their cars, giving them the illusion of a better life.
